Who is Saul Niguez?

The midfielder was born on November 21, 1994.

The 23-year-old comes from a footballing family, with brother Aaron and Jonathan also professionals, while his father, Jose Antonio, played for Elche in La Liga.

Saul is a former Real Madrid youth product and was a part of the Spain under-21 side that lost to England in the European Championships in 2017.

How many Spain caps does Saul have?

Despite his obvious talent, Saul only made his debut on September 1, 2016 against Belgium, aged 21.

He is playing his 11th cap against England, netting his first goal in Spain colours at Wembley.

Saul was called up to the 2018 World Cup squad, but was an unused substitute.

Saul is a regular starter for Atletico Madrid, after beginning at the Real Madrid academy

Who does Saul play for?

The midfielder is currently a first-team regular at Atletico Madrid, playing 56 times in all competitions last season.

He joined Atleti as a 14-year-old, after leaving cross-town rivals Real Madrid.

Saul has long been tracked by Premier League’s elite, with Arsenal and Manchester United previously interested.
