BILLIONAIRE CNN chief and WCW owner Ted Turner has been diagnosed with lewy body dementia.
The 79-year-old bankrolled the former wrestling promotion throughout the infamous Attitude Era of the late 90s in a fierce battle with Vince McMahon’s WWE.
Now he faces a huge health battle after doctors confirmed he is suffering with the same condition that afflicted Hollywood legend Robin Williams in his final years before his death in 2014.
Speaking to Ted Koppel in a CBS Sunday Morning interview, Turner revealed: “It’s a mild case of what people have as Alzheimer’s.
“It’s similar to that. But not nearly as bad. Alzheimer’s is fatal. Thank goodness I don’t have that.”
Turner purchased wrestling company Jim Crockett Promotions in 1988 and renamed it World Championship Wrestling.
He appointed Eric Bischoff as executive producer in a groundbreaking decision that would change the course of the business forever.
With the huge financial backing of Turner, WCW poached superstars such as Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Randy Savage from WWE.

The illness is described as a progressive neurological disorder that attacks the areas of the brain responsible for behaviour, cognition, and movement.
