New photo Seattle Storm don't intend to go to White House IF INVITED after winning WNBA championship

WNBA champions Seattle Storm have no intention on going to the White House, even though they have yet to receive an invitation from President Donald Trump

Veteran point guard Sue Bird confirmed that the team had no interest in going after the team beat the Washington Mystics in a Wednesday showdown with a final score of 98-82.

'At this point, it doesn't even really need to be discussed,' Bird said on Friday, according to the Seattle Times

'It's come up. We paid attention to what happened with Minnesota not getting invited. Everyone knew when everything happened with Steph Curry and LeBron (James) on social media, all that stuff. We all pay attention and we watch.'

Last year, the Minnesota Lynx did not receive an invitation from the White House when they won the championship in 2017.

'I'm sure [President Trump] is going to say we're not invited anyway,' Bird further stated to KING 5, 'so it all works out well.'

When the Seattle Storm won their championship in 2010, the team was invited to the White House and went.

'I've been really fortunate to go, and it's exciting,' Bird added. 'You're going to the White House. I remember first walking into the room to meet President Obama and the aura. ... It's insane.

'Now, that's not the case anymore. It doesn't feel exciting. Nobody wants to go. It's totally changed. And that's disappointing because it used to be, like I said, something that most athletes would look forward to.'

Bird had also visited the White House in 2002 when she won the NCAA title with Conneticut.

The anti-White House sentiment was shared by Storm forward Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis.

She stated: 'I think until people see a change it's probably going to be the norm. I don't see many people that are going to accept the invitation if they get one.'

While in office, Trump has only been visited by the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots, World Series champions Houston Astros, Stanley Cup champions Pittsburgh Penguins and NCAA football champions Alabama Crimson Tide and Clemson Tigers.

This year, Trump canceled a visit from the Philadelphia Eagles after a majority of the players vowed that they would not be attending.

The Golden State Warriors declined to visit the White House in 2017, opting to visit the African-American Museum. They were not invited this year after winning the championship.

Both NCAA champions in 2017 - the South Carolina women's team and North Carolina men's team - declined White House invitations.

Neither 2018 NCAA champions - Notre Dame women's team and Villanova men's team - have not been invited this year.
