A WOMAN has spoken of her horror after she was left fighting for life when a botched tummy tuck at a clinic in Poland gave her deadly sepsis.
Kerrie Wilkes had travelled abroad for the surgery but her immune system went into overdrive and she claims she didn’t receive the aftercare she was promised.
The 26-year-old had stayed in Poland for a week after the operation for a flatter stomach but says medics didn’t take her temperature or do a bloodtest.
Kerrie, from Glasgow, told the Daily Record: “After surgery, everything felt fine. I knew I would have some level of pain after an operation.
“I had no idea I would be left fighting for my life a week later.”
The salon owner began to feel unwell while in Poland still but didn’t receive medical help until after she’d flown back to the UK.
She was prescribed antibiotics but less than 24 hours later was rushed Glasgow Royal Infirmary for emergency surgery to treat the sepsis.
Kerrie said: “I could barely walk, my stitches were coming away and I remember there being this awful smell coming from the bandages.”
She continued: “When I woke up three days later, the surgeon said the infection was so high he couldn’t believe I was still alive.

“My body had started to attack my own organs. It’s like a bad dream rather than a memory.”
Kerrie has now warned others going under the knife abroad is not worth the risk after she “nearly paid the ultimate price”.
It comes after mum Leah Cambridge died after suffering three heart attacks during her Brazilian butt lift op in Turkey.
