Arsenal claimed a third Premier League victory in a row on Saturday as two quickfire goals at the start of the second-half ensured they defeated Newcastle at St James' Park.
Granit Xhaka opened the scoring almost instantly after half-time. The Albanian hit a superb free-kick that curled into the top corner and left Martin Dubravka helpless on 49 minutes.
Mesut Ozil then doubled the Gunners' lead just under 10 minutes later when he finished off a well-worked team move from inside the penalty area. Ciaran Clark headed home at the back post to give the Magpies a lifeline but it proved to be just a consolation.
Defeat left Newcastle with their equal worst start after five games to a Premier League season while Arsenal clinched first back-to-back league away wins since May 2017.
