New photo ITV ‘set to swoop for BBC favourites Peaky Blinders, Masterchef and Pointless’

ITV is battling out to buy the production company behind some of the BBC’s most-loved shows.

Endemol Shine has attracted interest from a number of channels thanks to its stellar list of credits such as Peaky Blinders, Masterchef, Pointless and Channel 5’s Big Brother.

Valued at £3billion, Endemol wouldn’t be acquired cheaply, but it’s a risk that could have big rewards.

A source told the Daily Star: “The BBC and other channels will be watching closely.

“They might lose some of their key shows. And Big Brother might find a new place on ITV now.”

The Sun Online has contacted representatives for ITV and the BBC for comment.

Big Brother has already been tipped to return on ITV after being axed by Channel 5.

Channel 5 has confirmed Big Brother has been axed from their channel

The Sun Online exclusively revealed that the show is going to continue despite being dropped by Channel 5.

Bookies and industry experts are now convinced the show will eventually land on ITV.

A spokesman told the Daily Star Sunday: “With Channel 5 ready to evict CBB, we rate ITV as the most likely channel to take the show on.”

Big Brother was first shown on Channel 4 before being cancelled and later snapped up by Channel 5.

Since news of the C5 axing, bosses at C4 have since confirmed they have no plans to bring BB back.

Bookies are also predicting ITV will be successful – Paddy Power is offering odds of 4/6 the programme will return on ITV as

early as next year.

In a post on the company’s Twitter page, they wrote: “Hi there, there are no intentions to air #BigBrother on Channel 4 again.”

Bosses at Sky have also ruled themselves out of a bidding war for BB, tweeting: “Good Afternoon, there are no plans for Sky One to show Big Brother I’m afraid.”

C5 bosses announced earlier this week that they’ve cut ties with the longstanding show, however The Sun Online revealed it will be snapped up by a national broadcaster thanks to its money-making format.

An industry insider said: “Celebrity Big Brother is a hugely popular format and a massive brand that attracts millions of absolutely dedicated and importantly, young fans.

“That makes it extremely valuable when it comes to advertising.

“And there is no way another channel won’t snap it up and bring it back, probably as early as next year.

“Channel Five getting rid of it is a massive gamble. It’s still their most popular show, so it may be a decision they live to regret.”

The Sun Online can also reveal that Hertsmere council were contacted in June about planning permission – and a decision was made on Thursday to let the famous house stand for another three years.

The mansion in Borehamwood faced being knocked down if the council didn’t approve the plans.

C5 announced they had axed the show in a statement to The Sun Online last Friday.

It said: “The forthcoming series of Big Brother will be the last – of either celebrity or civilian versions – on Channel 5.

“We’d like to thank Endemol and all of the production team who have worked tirelessly to make the show a success.

“We’d also like to thank our brilliant presenters – Emma on Big Brother and Rylan from Bit on the Side – for their consummate professionalism, Marcus, the voice of Big Brother and all of the housemates who have created so many memorable moments.

“Most importantly, we’d like to thank fans of the show for their support over the last seven years.

“We look forward to giving the final series a brilliant send-off.”
