SERGIO RAMOS received a villain’s welcome at Wembley as Spain took on England – but fans could not decide whether he deserved it or not.
The Real Madrid talisman was booed every time he got the ball at Three Lions HQ – with supporters at the ground clearly still remembering the role he played in the Champions League final.
Ramos, 32, was blamed for allegedly injuring Mohammed Salah’s shoulder on purpose and forcing him off as Madrid secured a 3-1 win over Liverpool in Kiev.
He was even sprayed by the Wembley Stadium sprinklers before kick-off – delighting the home fans.
Ramos has developed into a universally hated figure on the pitch to anyone who is not a Los Blancos fan – being seen as a brutal enforcer and one who bends the rules to win.
The Spaniard even admitted he was anticipating abuse from fans at Wembley, but that he simply did not care and his conscience was clear.
And fans on social media appeared to be split in their views of Ramos being booed – here is some reaction from fans on Twitter…
