New photo Central Line stabbing leaves man covered in blood after being ‘knifed in face’ as he sat on train

A MAN was reportedly stabbed in the face while travelling on a London Underground train in the early hours of this morning.


Witnesses say the passenger was knifed after getting in an argument with another man who was sitting near him on the Central Line.


Detectives have released this CCTV image of a man they believe has information that could help their investigation

A bystander posted a picture of the victim covered in blood as he seemingly tries to use the camera on a phone to look at his face.


Another picture showed a blood soaked newspaper on the floor by passengers feet.


The woman who shared the pictures online said: “A man just got stabbed in the face on the @centralline between Mile End and Bethnal I didn’t see who it was apparently it was a man sitting near him they were arguing can’t believe it!! hope he’s okay”.


She added: “…never seen something so horrible in my life blood everywhere”.

British Transport police say they were called to Mile End station at 00.47am on Sunday, September 30, after the alleged attack happened at some point between there and Stratford.


Officers say they victim was treated by London Ambulance service for non-life threatening injuries.


Detectives have released a CCTV image of a man they believe has information that could help their investigation.

Officers are also keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the attack.


A BTP spokesperson said: “Anyone with any information or who recognises this man should contact BTP by calling 0800 40 50 40 or texting 61016, quoting reference number 36 of 30/9/2018.”


It comes as knife crime in the capital continues to surge in what has been one of the bloodiest years on London’s streets.
