New photo Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother axe: Reality show 'tipped for ITV'

A host of hit BBC shows - and Channel 5's Big Brother - could switch to ITV as the broadcaster lines up a £3bn bid to buy the production company behind the programmes.

According to the Sunday Times, ITV are keen to snap up Endemol Shine, the firm who make Masterchef, Pointless and Peaky Blinders as well as the soon-to-be-axed reality series.

The publication reported that TV chiefs have entered a bidding war for the show's production company and bookmakers are now predicting the Borehamwood Big Brother bungalow will find a new home on ITV.

A spokesman for the bookmakers told the Daily Star Sunday: 'With Channel 5 ready to evict CBB, we rate ITV as the most likely channel to take the show on.

Emma Willis doesn't like to do things by halves when it comes to style, does she?

She's pictured here in a promotional shot for the latest series of Celebrity Big Brother rocking a green glittery suit, which is by Georgia Hardinge. It's a brand we've spotted Michelle Keegan and Nicola Roberts in, and actually both Paloma Faith and Annabelle Wallis have worn this exact suit!

We love the split sleeves and rich hue of this trouser suit, which is all available to buy via the links (right and below). Emma kept hers relatively simple, adding just jewellery by Zoe and Morgan to allow this gorgeous green look to do all the talking.

So if you fancy emulating Emma, why not make them emerald with envy in one of the blazers we've tracked down for you elsewhere?

The news comes after fans were left shocked to discover that the hit Channel 5 show would be airing its last ever series after 18 years.

And now both Sky and Channel 4 have denied that they are taking over Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother after it was axed on Friday after 18 years.

The broadcasters took to social media to cheekily reply to fans who asked whether they had any intentions of claiming the format.

Channel 4's Twitter account said: 'Hi there, there are no intentions to air #BigBrother on Channel 4 again.'

While Sky tweeted: 'Good Afternoon, there are no plans for Sky One to show Big Brother I'm afraid.'

For a chance of the show's revival, this leaves the likes of BBC, ITV, MTV and even Netflix to take over the controversial reality series.

The news that Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother were being axed was announced on Friday, just hours before the launch night, with an official statement issued on Twitter, which said: 'The forthcoming series of Big Brother will be the last - of either celebrity or civilian versions - on Channel 5.'

The show, which was seen as a ground-breaking social experiment when it first aired in 2000, was initially a roaring success, with the final of the first series bringing in 9.45 million viewers.

But a nation once obsessed with 'Nasty' Nick Bateman of series one is now more enthralled with the show's competitors with viewing figures dropped.

Addressing the show's axing on Friday's launch show, host Emma Willis had to hold back tears as she emotionally spoke about the news.

The presenter, 42, tragically addressed the fact the show was being axed after 18 years during Big Brother's Bit on the Side with co-host Rylan Clark-Neal as they shared a teary hug.

She said: 'This should be a positive thing because we should just f**king show everybody how great this programme is and we should love it and embrace it and give it the send off it deserves.

'I've also been here before when it finished, so I'm like, 'Oh yeah, we buried it and then it came back to life'.'

She added: 'It was brilliant actually, and all the changes that the production team have made this series for celebrity and the one we're about to enter.

'I think they've taken all the brilliant bits from the past and brought them back and mixed them with something different for the future, because it's been on for a b****y long time and it has to be different. So I think they've made, I'm getting emotional now too, they've made a brilliant mix.'

To which an also emotional Rylan commenting on Emma's near tears: 'Oh no, don't, please don't.'

Talking about the news before the launch night, Emma recorded a video for Big Brother's official Twitter account.

She said: 'This is a very strange, 'What You Talking About Willis?' today because normally it's a 'Yay! It is the launch!' of our civilian series, but the excitement comes with really a lot of sadness because we have all found out today, that Big Brother is no more on Channel 5.

'I feel like I've been through this process before. Well I have been through this process before because I worked on the last year on Channel 4 and we like… buried it.

'Like genuinely. We had a grave for it and everything in the back garden and then the next thing we know is, 'Oh wow, it's coming back.'

'So the news was a shock, if I'm honest but I kind of still hold out hope that somebody out there, loves it as much as we all do still and will give it a home in the future because it has been on the TV for a b****y long time and you know, it's part of our popular culture.

'So it would be sad. It would be sad to see its end at the age of eighteen. It'd be lovely to see it come back for its twentieth anniversary.

'But the one thing that I can assure you is that on hearing this news, it has made every single person that works here and on the show, it's given us even more of an incentive to make this the most incredible series because we want to go out on a high and we want to go out with a bang.

'And I don't mean from a controversial point of view. I mean from a fun, brilliant, let's celebrate Big Brother for everything it is and everything it has done. So those are my feelings on the subject.'

While Ryan also shared his thoughts about the show being axed earlier on in the day, he tweeted: 'After 6 years working on one of the most iconic shows on television I'm saddened to hear the news Big Brother won't be returning.

'It has been the biggest privilege being a housemate, a winner and a host on my favourite show on the television.

'To work with Emma, Marcus and the amazing team on BOTS every day and have made friends for life I'm truly the luckiest guy in the industry.

'I hope one day Big Brother will return but my focus now, as with the rest of the team, is to make our last series the best yet.

'I'd like to thank all of our guests, housemates and teams over the years, Endemol and Channel 5 for having me and most of all the viewers for sharing this amazing journey.

'I learned how to host a show on the job here and I'll be forever grateful for the opportunity. R x.'
