New photo Apple Store DOWN just hours before new iPhone models are expected to launch

THE Apple Store website is now offline, just hours before we’re expecting a trio of new iPhones to be unveiled.

Customers will temporarily be unable to make online purchases at Apple’s official site – until tonight’s iPhone launch event is over.

The website went down at around noon UK time.

It’s not a major surprise either, because Apple always takes its retail pages offline in the hours before new products are announced.

Tonight’s launch event is scheduled for 6pm UK time, and will probably last around two hours.

Once that’s finished, the Apple Store page will likely come back online – packed with loads of new Apple gadgets.

The Apple Store website is currently displaying a holder message, which reads: “Be right back. We’re making updates to the Apple Store. Check back soon.”

So what can we expect to see from Apple today?

Well it’s hardly a secret any more, because Apple accidentally leaked three new product names just a few hours ago.

New iPhone models turned up in the source code for Apple’s website, revealing handsets that have never been formally announced.

The leaked models are named iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR.

New iPhones 2018 – what should you expect?

Here are the predictions from top analysts at TrendForce...

  • The company plans to introduce three new iPhone models later this year

  • All three models would continue to feature Face ID, and two of them would be premium versions with an AMOLED screen

  • In terms of tech specs, the new iPhones may include two AMOLED versions, with a size of 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch respectively, as well as a less expensive 6.1-inch version with an LCD screen

  • For the budget 6.1-inch LCD version, it will come with Face ID, Dual-SIM function, and a larger screen than its predecessor iPhone 8

  • The 6.1-inch LCD model would be positioned by Apple’s main product this year, with a production share of around 50% in the new iPhone series

  • As for the two premium AMOLED versions, they would both feature a memory content of 4GB

  • The 6.5-inch AMOLED version would target at the premium business segment, with an extra-large screen and Dual-SIM service, but the Dual-SIM function is expected to be available only in certain regions

  • All three models are expected to be shipped in September and October as previously scheduled

What’s exciting about these handsets is that they’re all rumoured to borrow last year’s iPhone X design.

That means they’ll have a swanky all-screen front, and come toting Apple’s Face ID tech – which unlocks your phone by scanning your face.

The handsets are also expected to ship with Apple’s new iOS 12 software, which was announced earlier this year.

The iOS 12 update adds some useful features, like a feature that cleans up your home-screen notifications, and a tool that lets you track how much time you spend within apps.

Apple’s iPhone XR is tipped to be the cheapest model, boasting a 6.1-inch LCD screen and costing somewhere between £599 and £699.

Next in line is the iPhone XS, a smaller 5.8-inch model with a more premium OLED display – and a rumoured price tag of £899.

Finally, there’s the large 6.5-inch iPhone XS Max, also shipping with an OLED screen, that will reportedly cost £999.

That’s not all, though.

Apple is also expected to make a bunch of other announcements about various other products.

Rumoured headliners include a new iPad Pro, an Apple Watch 4, and potentially new AirPods wireless earbuds.

Apple is staying silent ahead of the big event, so take all rumours and leaks with due caution until products are made official tonight.
