As superheroes they have wowed generations of fans in comics and blockbuster films.
Now characters including Spider-Man, Hulk and Iron Man are to swap the big screen for some very small postage stamps to mark the 80th anniversary of Marvel Comics.
Royal Mail has commissioned a 15-stamp set showing Marvel’s best-known superheroes and some characters created to woo the British market in the 1980s, such as Union Jack and Captain Britain.
The stamps have been illustrated by artist Alan Davis, who has worked with Marvel since 1981, and include a mini comic strip depicting the heroes battling their arch nemesis, Thanos. Philip Parker of Royal Mail said: ‘Generations have grown up spellbound by the adventures and the personalities of these superheroes. Our epic new stamps celebrate each in characteristic pose.’
The stamps are available for pre-order on the Royal Mail website and go on general sale in post offices from March 14.

Stamps show the UK's favorite Marvel characters from left to right: Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, Hulk, Doctor Strange, Captain Britain, Peggy Carter, Iron Man, Union Jack, Black Panther and Thor

The stamps will be displayed in the collectors booklet as a mini Marvel comic
