New photo ‘That Irish b**** hit me!: Khabib's cousin claims McGregor punched him in post-fight brawl

The cousin of UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has detailed part of the brawl with Conor McGregor and his team that overshadowed the Russian fighter's win. 

Abubakar Nurmagomedov, also an MMA fighter, posted a profanity-laden clip to social media where he says McGregor threw a punch at him, showing an open wound under his eye.

'In short, I climbed onto the cage. This Irish b**** hit me,' he said in Russian of the Irishman. 'But I didn't hold back either. Bam, boom! I gave [him] two,' he added while wearing a Russian papakha hat.

The Las Vegas arena was in chaos Saturday night after the triumphant Russian leaped out of the ring following his dramatic victory, sparking a fight in the crowd while one of Nurmagodemov's team attacked McGregor in the octagon. 

McGregor was escorted out of Saturday's arena after a fight broke out between him and opponent Khabib Nurmagomedov in a lightweight show down  

Khabib's cousin, MMA fighter Abubakar Nurmagomedov said in a video that McGregor hit him during the brawl and showed his gash under his eye

'The papakha prevented [me], there was a papakha in my left hand,' Abubakar said, speaking of the tradition Russian hat that his cousin often wears to weigh ins.

Now, new footage suggests McGregor may have thrown the first punch in the chaotic brawl. 

Nurmagomedov had produced a career-best performance in Las Vegas to defeat the Irishman who was making his return to MMA after a near two-year hiatus.

But the action in the octagon was soon overshadowed as Nurmagodemov threw away his mouthpiece, leaped over the cage and attacked McGregor's team-mate Dillon Danis. 

Three members of Nurmagomedov's team were arrested but were released soon afterwards when McGregor said he would not press charges.

The fight descended into chaos as Khabib jumped from the octagon to go and fight in the crowd

Both fighters were taken away and there was no belt presentation but the ring announcer declared Nurmaomedov the winner, prompting a chorus of boos from the crowd. 

Taking just one question at his press conference Nurmagomedov apologized to the Nevada State Athletic Commission and Las Vegas but spoke of his disdain for McGregor's behavior leading up to the fight.

Nurmagomedov said: 'First of all I want to say sorry to Nevada Athletic Commission and second to Vegas. I know this is not my best side. I'm a human being.
