New photo Scottish patriot' beats sugar tax by 'secretly importing' bottles of original recipe Irn Bru

A Scottish Irn-Bru fan recorded themselves opening packs of the original recipe sugary soft drink after taking measures into their own hands.

The ingenious Scottish patriot Charlie Allan imported eight cans of the original recipe soft drink totalling a massive 270 grams of sugar following the country's implementation of the sugar tax which came into force on April 6.

In protest against the tax and English chef Jamie Oliver the native Scot got hold of the full-sugar version of the orange beverage on October 4 using Royal Mail.

During the video Allan is seen opening the sealed packages with a knife and heard saying 'I went on the dark web and I ordered four packages of 32 grams'.

After sharing their delight at being able to get hold of the full sugar beverage Allan defiantly says: 'We run this country, Scotland wins.'

Speaking about the change to the beverage Allan said: 'Heritage to Scottish people is something that runs in our blood.

'The fact that my children or grandchildren won't be able to drink the original Scottish recipe due to an uncultured chef is ridiculous.'

The UK-wide sugar tax was introduced earlier this year as a way to help tackle obesity.

It now means shoppers are being asked to pay 18p or 24p more a litre, depending on the amount of sugar that is being added to their soft drink.

The Scottish firm AG Barr responsible for making Irn Bru stopped making the original full-sugar version ahead of the sugar tax introduction.

However the move prompted a backlash in Scotland, with many stockpiling the precious commodity ahead of the recipe change.

Allan added: 'It should be a listed recipe much like a listed building. The sugar tax is nothing but a money grabbing scheme.'
