Now Mark is set to swap the Aussie sunshine for an ice rink after signing on the dotted line for the ITV show.

A show insider told The Sun Online: “Bosses were desperate to sign him up.

“Mark will add a sense of nostalgia to the show – everybody knows who he is.

“Joe Mangel is a Neighbours’ legend to fans old and new.”

Born in Brisbane, Australia, 58-year-old Mark shot to fame in the United Kingdom thanks to his role in Neighbours.

As a result, he replaced Chris Evans as the host of The Big Breakfast in 1994 – eventually moving to Brighton, and then London.

Since Neighbours, Mark has enjoyed success as a theatre actor – even winning an Olivier Award for one-man-show Defending the Caveman in 2000.

The star has two sons with his wife, Cath Farr.

Dancing On Ice is set to return to our screens in January 2019, with Mark the latest in a long list of celebs to sign up to the show.

Yesterday, Loose Women’s Saira Khan confirmed that she was set to take part in the upcoming series.

Towie’s Gemma Collins is also in the line-up, alongside ex-Strictly Come Dancing pro James Jordan, Westlife’s Brian McFadden, Love Island’s Wes Nelson, and former-EastEnders’ star Richard Blackwood.

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby are set to reprise their presenting duties, with it expected that skating icons and current judges Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean will return alongside Jason Gardiner and Ashley Banjo.
