New photo Grant Denyer reveals Network Ten almost announced his death on live television

He was rushed to hospital after suffering a near-fatal car crash on stage 12 of the Lake Mountain Sprint in Marysville, Victoria last March.

And Grant Denyer, 41, has revealed that Network Ten almost announced his death on live television following the horror crash.

'The first word out was that I'd died. Channel 10 were getting word from emergency services that I had been in an accident and I was killed,' he said on Rusty's Garage podcast this week.

'They were debating whether to talk about it. I know Matthew White (Network Ten news presenter) was facing the decision of, do we announce this right now live on television or not?' said the father-of-two.

Luckily for network bosses, the incorrect information about Grant's fate didn't make it to air.

Instead, the TV star was able to climb out of the wreckage and flag down an on coming car.

Ouch! The crash left Grant with severe bruising to his groin and lower back, a broken finger and a fractured coccyx (tailbone), while Dale suffered a broken leg

It's not the first injury Denyer has suffered behind the wheel of a race car, with the ex-Sunrise weatherman fracturing his back in 2008.

The former Family Feud host was placed in ICU and spent months recovering in hospital post-crash after he attempted to jump a car over a monster truck.

Following the accident the pint-sized presenter revealed he'd lost up one-centimetre in height.
