The fugitive wife of a convicted conman has been arrested and charged with a string of offences after being on the run for more than 18 months.

Simone Smith, AKA Simone Wright, was arrested in New South Wales on Tuesday by officers from the Australian Federal Police after being wanted for two years.

The officers had received New Zealand-endorsed extradition warrants for Mrs Wright's arrest, TVNZ reported.

Mrs Wright has been charged with supplying a girl aged 15 with the ecstasy, the indecent assault of the same girl as well as multiple charges of fraud and theft of a yacht. 

Mrs Wright's husband, Paul James Bennett, was arrested and deported from Australia in 2016 after the pair arrived in Sydney on a stolen yacht before being charged with a string of crimes.

He had been on the run from authorities when he was caught on the Hawkesbury River north of Sydney in February 2016. 

The charges he faced also included theft, fraud, and the same two charges Mrs Wright now faces, supplying a girl aged 15 with the class B drug ecstasy, and two of indecently assaulting the same girl. 

The yacht the pair were found on was stolen from the Bay of Islands the previous year.

Mrs Wright has been remanded in custody and will face an Australian court on September 28.
