Election folly
THE Prime Minister should be focused on one thing and one thing alone: delivering the best Brexit for Britain.
Rumours of a snap election in November, just four months before we leave the EU, are deeply concerning.

Not only does it give the impression of a Government in chaos, it would cost Britain valuable negotiating time.
Decision time is quickly approaching for Theresa May.
“Brexit means Brexit” will soon need flesh added to the bones: the Chequers compromise or the more ambitious — but more difficult to deliver — model presented by free traders today.
And far from pondering her domestic strength, she should focus on flexing her muscles with Brussels.

Above all, it means reminding that unconvincing Napoleon tribute act Emmanuel Macron and the tight-fisted Angela Merkel that we’re perfectly happy to break free without paying a penny of our £39billion “exit deal”.
They must know that asking their own increasingly Eurosceptic voters to fill the hole left by our departure could bring down the whole house of cards.
And keeping that cash here would pay for plenty of tax cuts, making the UK even more competitive on a global stage.
It’s time to get tough. Deal, or no dough.
Muzzle it out
LABOUR’S position on Brexit is clear as mud, but we know one thing they do believe: the Press needs muzzling.
From the moment Jeremy Corbyn told us that “change is coming”, the media has come under attack after attack from a leader who is playing the man — not the ball — when it comes to those asking him legitimate questions.

Union strongman Len McCluskey accused the media of “vicious attacks” on the Labour Party.
But it’s not an “attack” to ask Corbyn, a man who wants to be PM, why he spent his holidays visiting a terrorists’ cemetery in Tunisia or why he invited the IRA for tea and treats in Parliament.
Nor is it just the tactics of the hated “mainstream media” to ask John McDonnell whether his extremist economics will actually work in the real world.
(Spoiler: they won’t).

Today’s announcement on employee ownership appears appealing for workers, but it would only hit investment and productivity in the long-term.
If this Labour Party gains power, the free Press — and the economy — would be in serious danger.

His win over Alexander Povetkin at a packed-out Wembley was stunning.
