TELEVISION presenter Robert Peston has revealed woman have been “predatory” and “stalky” towards him because of his TV fame.
In an interview with the Sunday Times magazine, he said after the death of his wife Sian in 2012 he discovered women were attracted to TV personalities and he felt the need to exercise caution over potential partners when newly single.
He said: “I think there is a stalky thing that happens, and I think women [presenters] talk about it more than men normally, but there is definitely a stalky thing that happens for men as well, and you have to be slightly careful.”
The father-of-two,who rose to prominence through his reporting on the financial crash of 2008, added that some women regarded his widower status as a vacancy, but that his current partner, fellow journalist Charlotte Edwardes, was different.
Peston admitted she “didn’t have a f****** clue” who he was when they met as she “was having babies at the height of the financial crisis”.
Adding: “I’m absolutely confident that, of all the women I’ve encountered over the last few years, she is the one who’s not remotely interested in me as a widower or because of what I do for a living.”

The 58-year-old also revealed how he felt “desperately guilty” and “disloyal” for falling in love again, and had “endless” discussions with his grief counsellor about his new relationship.
This summer he moved in with Charlotte Edwardes and her three children.
He said: “At the time it felt inconceivable that I would ever fall in love again. I was suffering from quite severe trauma, and it took a long time… so this was and is a very nice surprise.”
