COPS who held a missing millionaire’s ex-wife and sons on suspicion of murder trawled a pond for him yesterday.
Divers searched a 100 metres long body of water on Angela Taylor’s farm in the hunt for William Taylor, 69 — last seen 3½ months ago.
Police swooped on the 150-acre site in the early hours. A man renting a home there from Mrs Taylor, 52, said of the search: “She looked under the weather from it. It’s not a nice thing to go through.
“She’s a lovely lady. We were good friends with all of them, including Bill. It’s a big shock.”
The farmer vanished from his £1.2million home in Gosmore, Herts, two days before turning 70.
It is two miles from his ex-wife’s farm in Hitchin.
A female neighbour said: “Bill spent a lot of time around here.
“A lot of land around here is his, so he would come and look after it. He seemed lovely.”
Another female local added: “Bill was well-liked around here. He didn’t say a great deal but was very friendly.”
One of Mrs Taylor’s tenants, living opposite the search scene, said: “I see her with the children from time to time. They are all nice.”

William was believed to have wed Mrs Taylor, his second wife, in 1997. They had three children to- gether plus Gavin Foulds, 26, her son from an earlier relationship.
She, the couple’s sons Michael, 22, and William, 18, and a man, 53, all of Hitchin, were arrested this week on suspicion of murder and conspiracy to murder. They were also quizzed over arson on William’s Land Rover days before he vanished.
Cops said: “Four people arrested on suspicion of a number of offences, including murder, have been released on bail.”
