A MAN arrested for bringing a Taser to Buckingham Palace has been released by cops.
Officers said the man’s stun gun was on a key ring and brought to the Queen’s official residence as a “genuine error”.
Police swooped into action after the 38-year-old suspect was detained at the visitor entrance as he was passing through an “airport style” security gate.
Guards discovered the firearm and police were called – arriving in a matter of seconds.
Visitors to Buckingham Palace must empty their pockets and have their bags searched before they pass through a metal detector gate.
But despite the security alert the Palace continued to remain open to the public.
A spokesman said: “Officers are reminding visitors to the United Kingdom to ensure that any items that they are carrying comply with legislation in the UK.
“This includes small knives and personal Taser-type devices, both of which may be considered offensive weapons or in breach of strict UK firearms laws.”
Buckingham Palace is the Queen’s official residence.
It was unclear whether the monarch or other members of the Royal Family were staying there today.

The palace said it doesn’t comment on security matters.
In October a “drunk” woman was nabbed by cops after trying to scale Buckingham Palace’s front gates.
The trespasser, believed to be in in her 30s was quickly detained by officers before she gained access to the palace grounds – while crowds applauded the quick response.
