FEYENOORD star Steven Berghuis has been accused of play-acting after being “slapped” during yesterday’s tight victory over Utrecht.
The Dutch winger, 26, hit the deck after minimal contact to the cheek – with supporters taking to Twitter to voice their anger at his antics.
Berghuis took a light brush to the side of the face, before crumbling in a heap on the turf clutching his face.
The sour incident threatened to be the Eredivisie clash’s most memorable moment, before Robin van Persie rolled back the years.
The former Arsenal and Manchester United striker, 35, nodded in a late winner following a flowing team move to steal a late 1-0 home win.
It was RVP’s fifth league goal of the season as Feyenoord moved level on points with second-placed Ajax – and two behind PSV Eindhoven – both of whom have a game in hand.
Van Persie scored twice against NAC Breda earlier this month, while netting against Heerenveen in a breathless 5-3 away win and in the 3-0 victory over Excelsior.
But the 87-minute winner was easily the Dutch legend’s most important of the season to keep his side’s title hopes alive.
Feynoord famously lifted the Eredivisie crown in 2016-17 – 18 years after their previous league victory.
However, they failed to keep pace with PSV last term, slipping to fourth – 17 points adrift of the eventual champions.
