New photo Benjamin Mendy ‘celebrates’ another trophy as Manchester City defender holds Anthony Joshua’s world title belts

MANCHESTER CITY defender Benjamin Mendy was among the host of celebrities ringside to see Anthony Joshua stop Alexander Povetkin at Wembley.

The 24-year-old has missed City’s last three games with a foot injury and his absence gave him the chance to be ringside to enjoy AJ’s seventh-round stoppage of the Russian.

Mendy somehow managed to get hold of two of the champ’s belts and took to social media to share the selfie with his 2.3million Instagram followers.

He said: “Just when you thought I didn’t win enough trophies in 2018.”

Mendy moved to the Etihad from Monaco last year and has scooped the Premier League title, Community Shield and World Cup with France.

Among big names ringside were legendary Sugar Ray Leonard, Tony Bellew and Dillian Whyte who was on media duties for Sky Sports.

The win saw Joshua extend his unbeaten record to 22 fights, with 21 wins inside the distance.

Now AJ wants a mega unification showdown with WBC champ Deontay Wilder at the same venue on April 13 – provided the American beats Tyson Fury in December.

Asked for his preference, WBA, IBF and WBO champ Joshua said: “My number one would be Wilder, that’s it.

“Let’s not talk about number two or number three.

“I’m not too fussed who wins. May the champion bring himself to the UK and let’s have a good old-fashioned dust up.”
