New photo Remember when Luis Boa Morte gave a tour of his Footballers’ Crib and it was a modest home on a housing estate?

REMEMBER when Luis Boa Morte was on Footballers’ Cribs?

No, us neither – but looking back on the episode reveals one of the oddest and funniest 10 minutes of TV we’ve seen in a while.

The former Fulham captain would have been earning around £20,000-a-week but was living in a relatively modest house[/caption]

Back in the mid-2000s, MTV’s Cribs show was huge.

In the states, Hollywood’s A-list, rappers and pop stars were clamouring to be on the show.

It had iconic moments: Ja Rule renting a house and hosting a party with Vin Diesel and Jay-Z in the background, Mariah Carey getting into the bath, Hugh Hefner showing us around the Playboy Mansion and his seven (SEVEN!) live-in girlfriends.

This side of the Atlantic the glitz and glamour wasn’t quite the same.

Boa Morte appeared to struggle finding his way around the house[/caption]

Pop group Blue had an episode that showed Duncan James living in a student flat and Lee Ryan still at home at his parents’ house.

His mum had tidied it up for him that morning.

A spin-off show, Footballers’ Cribs, was also created and Fulham star Luis Boa Morte, who spoke exclusively to SunSport on Tuesday, was one of those to be featured.

Whether the Portuguese winger was in on the joke only he knows – but he certainly wasn’t living a typical footballers’ life.

The first curiosity comes when the camera pans to shots outside the house.

It appears that Boa Mort, who went on to captain Fulham and win their player of the year award in 2005, is living in the middle of an upmarket housing estate, rather than in a gated mansion in the countryside.

Boa Morte’s Surrey house is a relatively modest – for a footballer who was on around £20,000-a-week, not for us – four-bedroom, four-bathroom detached home that barely looks lived in.

The winger, who also had stints at West Ham and Arsenal, then arrives… in a tiny silver Vauxhall Corsa.

Something has to be up.

Walking through the door, Boa Morte tours around his home but barely looks like he knows where anything is.

He even admits: “I don’t spend much time here.”

There are a few pictures of his family and his son, but he explains that his son lives back in Portugal.

At one point Boa Morte rolls around on his bed – and reveals the only suit he owns is an official Fulham club suit[/caption]

MTV
Boa Morte also admits he’s never been into his garden and it’s ‘not in a great state’[/caption]

When looking at a picture of his girlfriend, Sarah, Boa Morte incredibly says: “Not much to say about her.”

The same wall has a giant caricature of his face front and centre – this has to be a wind-up.

There is a cinema… but his DVDs sit in a cardboard box, unwatched.

After rolling around on his bed, Boa Morte reveals he only owns one suit – his official Fulham one.

The final stop is the back garden to which Boa Morte admits: “I’ve never been out here before.

“It’s not in a great state.”

Which begs the question, why did Luis Boa Morte let the MTV cameras into his home?
