MENTAL health disorders afflict 113,000 kids aged two to four in England alone, official statistics suggest.

Most exhibit forms of misbehaviour, including “oppositional defiant disorder”.

Others suffer hyperactivity, autism or stress and difficulty sleeping or eating.

Numbers affected rose to one in ten primary pupils, one in seven at secondaries and one in six aged 17-19.

NHS Digital questioned 9,000 youngsters or their parents for the Mental Health of Children and Young People in England report.

Older sufferers were more prone to emotional disorders, such as depression.

Action for Children’s Sue Rogers said: “It’s sad so many babies feel stressed by modern life.

“It’s easy for mums and dads to spend too much time using social media on their phones.

“Children who feel they’re not getting attention are more likely to be difficult to manage.”

National guidelines tell health visitors to refer affected youngsters to a specialist — or mums and dads to parenting courses.

But Prof Julian Elliott, of Durham University, said: “Every problem is turned into a mental health issue, yet a lot of these defiant children don’t have a mental disorder — it’s a question of conduct.

“Many families have far less structure than years ago, so it’s no surprise parents find it harder getting children to be obedient. Fundamentally it’s about training kids to behave.”

Hayden says: “I don’t have a model’s body, but I’m not one of those crazy girls who thinks that they’re fat. I’m OK with what I have.”

Nicollette says: “I don’t like diets – I see it, I eat it! I believe in eating healthily with lots of protein, vegetables and carbs to give you energy.”
