The Duchess of Cambridge showed off her glowing complexion when she arrived at Prince Charles' 70th birthday bash earlier this week.

And now, experts have revealed how you can recreate Kate's stunning make-up look by applying your blusher beneath your foundation.

Professional make-up artist, Laura Kay from Laura Kay London, described Kate, 36, as a 'trendsetter' when it came to the 'under-blush' technique.  

Other experts explained to FEMAIL how cream blusher can also be combined with highlighter beneath your base, to give the skin a 'dewy' appearance.

Top make-up artist Pablo Rodriguez told the Telegraph how applying cream blusher to your cheeks before your foundation or base is the key to creating a natural, rosy glow. 

And other experts agreed, with Laura Kay explaining how the technique is quickly rising in popularity - including with the Duchess of Cambridge. 

She told FEMAIL: 'Applying blusher under your foundation is the newest beauty trick from top makeup artists.

'The contour trend has had its day and in its place is "under blush" for a more natural glow. This technique is all about achieving a glowing highlight as opposed to just depositing colour.

She added: 'The softer the blush the lighter and more glowing your features and complexion. Under blush can make you appear more youthful as opposed to a harder block colour of blush.' 

'For best results, smile and dab the blush just above the apples of your cheekbones. Softy and lightly blend in with your finger, in an outwards motion, towards your temples.' 

'Less is more in this case but with a hint of light glitter, which you can apply as the finishing touch, this technique gives your cheekbones even more prominence.'

Meanwhile, Stacey Whittaker, an award-winning make-up artist and skincare expert, suggested applying highlighter under your foundation.

'As well as applying blusher under your foundation, I also love applying highlighter under foundation, she told FEMAIL. 

'Much like blush, this will give your skin a dewy appearance, a gorgeous glow and will help to enhance your features.' 

Experts suggested using a cream blush, rather than powered blusher, in order to re-create Kate's 'under-blush' technique 

Stacey explained how cream blusher should be used for the 'under-blush' technique, rather than powder blusher.

'Cream blushes also tend to look at bit more natural and are great to use during the winter months, as they are a little more hydrating,' she said.

'Prior to applying blusher to the skin, it’s key to use a primer to allow the blusher to be applied seamlessly and to make sure your makeup is long lasting.'  

Kate, 37, wowed as she arrived at Buckingham Palace for a banquet celebrating the Prince of Wales' landmark birthday on Wednesday night.

Wearing her locks back in a chignon, she displayed a flawless make-up look, showing off her cheekbones with a rosy pink blusher and a dash of highlighter. 

The Duchess opted for a smokey eyeshadow for the evening event, accentuating her eyes with a black liner and a subtle flick at the corners.

Kate finished off the feminine look with a peach lip gloss, perfectly complimenting her pink one-shoulder gown.
