BARCELONA and Real Madrid will remain the top two of La Liga on Wednesday, no matter their results.
But following the Catalans’ 2-1 defeat to Leganes, their El Clasico rivals were in trouble against Sevilla, being 3-0 down at half-time.
When was the last time Barcelona and Real Madrid lost on the same matchday?
The El Clasico giants are often leading the way in La Liga, beating almost every team in the league.
Last season, Barcelona stormed to the title, losing just once.
But their defeat at Estadio Municipal de Butarque could see an unusual occurrence happen.
With Real Madrid losing at Sevilla, it could be the first time in three years that the two giants have lost on the same matchday.
In January 2015, Los Blancos were beaten by Valencia, while Luis Enrique’s Barca side were downed by Real Sociedad.
