New photo Strictly contestant Lauren Steadman makes her debut as show's first ever female disabled contestant

It's no surprise Lauren Steadman has a spring in her step. Last week the Paralympian won yet another medal – and tonight she makes her Strictly Come Dancing debut.

The 25-year-old swapped her sportswear for a flowing Rene K couture gown as she prepares to perform a waltz with professional dance partner AJ Pritchard.

In another picture shot by photographer Andy Hooper, styled by Jerry Khan and primped and preened by hair and make-up artist Lucy Hooper, she is seen striking a disco pose in a silver and gold jumpsuit by Aidan Mattox.

Miss Steadman, who was born without her right forearm, won gold in the paratriathlon at the ITU World Championships in Australia last week, adding to her haul of 26 medals.

Her tough training regime has stood her in good stead for the 14-hour rehearsal days with Pritchard, 23.

She said she was excited to be the first disabled female contestant on Strictly, adding that she could ‘show the country that actually it’s not disability, it’s ability, and there’s always ways around things – just be a bit more imaginative’.

Strictly is on BBC1 at 6.15pm today.

To achieve her kick-ass figure, Hayden – who plays cheerleader Claire Bennet in Heroes – follows the ‘quartering’ rule. She eats only a quarter of the food on her plate, then waits 20 minutes before deciding whether she needs to eat again.

Hayden says: “I don’t have a model’s body, but I’m not one of those crazy girls who thinks that they’re fat. I’m OK with what I have.”

Nicollette says: “I don’t like diets – I see it, I eat it! I believe in eating healthily with lots of protein, vegetables and carbs to give you energy.”

SATC star Kim swears by gym sessions with Russian kettle bells (traditional cast-iron weights) and the South Beach Diet to give her the body she wants. To avoid overeating, Kim has a radical diet trick – squirting lemon juice on her leftovers – so she won’t carry on picking.

Kim says: “I am no super-thin Hollywood actress. I am built for men who like women to look like women.”
