A STALKER who was obsessed with Raoul Moat recruited his new wife to unleash a “terrifying” campaign of harassment on the mother of his son.
Gary Dunn had previously threatened his ex-wife that he would make their son an orphan if she left him and petrol bomb her house.
The 38-year-old bombarded his former partner with text messages when they split in 2015 after 12 years of marriage, Teesside Crown Court heard.
She had left him while he slept after a nurse noticed his “violent” behaviour at their home.
He then started a “calculated campaign” of harassment, and when police were informed Dunn was taken to court.
But despite receiving a suspended sentence and a restraining order, the intimidation continued, with Dunn eventually employing his new spouse to help with the harassment.
Dunn and wife Rebekah, who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and multiple sclerosis, set up fake Facebook profiles and publicly posted false accusations against his ex and her new husband.
Messages included references to the Raoul Moat incident in July 2010 in a bid to threaten and intimidate his ex-wife.
“I was always intrigued by Raoul Moat. Yes he died but he got his revenge,” Dunn told her in a chilling message.
In a statement, the victim said she has been “in turmoil” since 2015 and had been forced to move house three times.
“I feel like this harassment crept into every corner of my life,” she said.
“I continue to live in fear.”
The Dunns, of Low Grange Avenue in Billingham, both pleaded guilty to stalking.
Gary Dunn, 38, was said to be the “prime offender” and he also admitted breaching a restraining order.
Rebekah Dunn wept as her husband was sentenced to four years in prison and led out of court.
The 32-year-old, who has no previous convictions, received a three-year community order.

The court heard she was “very vulnerable” and suffers from various mental and physical problems, including post-tramuatic stress disorder and multiple sclerosis. Her husband was her carer.
Both were given indefinite restraining orders to protect their victim and her family.
