Rush hour commuters have described 'visions of hell' on the roads this morning after a three-lorry pile-up and a separate heavy goods vehicle explosion closed the M40 in both directions.
The motorway has been closed for drivers on both sides between Junction 15 and 16 since early this morning, causing misery for drivers between Henley in Arden and Warwick and beyond.
The road will remain closed for the whole day, with frustrated motorists taking to social media to post images of huge queues and dramatic images of flames billowing from vehicles on both sides of the road earlier this morning.
Miraculously no one has been reported injured in the two horror incidents, which have caused misery for drivers since 3.30am when a lorry caught fire on the southbound carriageway, followed by a three-HGV crash on the north side half an hour later.

Fire crews were scrambled to a blazing lorry fire on the southbound carriageway at 3.30am before three other lorries smashed into each other on the northbound road half an hour later at 4am, causing another fire and fuel spillage in the opposite direction.
One video from the scene shows the Eddie Stobart lorry shooting out flames before exploding with a loud bang into a bigger fireball.
Recovery operations are currently in place on both sides of the motorway, where the burnt out vehicles are being dealt with.

Motorist Janet Moss, 45, said: 'I was driving south past the junction at around 4.45am and the scene was like a vision from hell.
'There were fire engines everywhere and the lorries were engulfed in a fireball.
'I was convinced it was a fatality but I've heard on the radio the drivers managed to escape. It's a miracle really.'
M40 commuters are unable to get onto the M42, creating gridlock traffic on many of the roads south of Birmingham.
There is congestion on some parts of the M1 as drivers desperately try to find alternative routes to get to work.
Large sections of the M40 were empty today after the motorway was closed following this morning's major incident
A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said: 'Emergency services and fire crews are also on the scene.
'The road is expected to be closed for the majority of the morning while the southbound stretch of the M40 from junctions 15 to 16 is also closed at this time due to a separate lorry fire.
'Motorists are advised to avoid the area completely and follow diversions put in place by Highways England.'
