LESS than 24 hours after John Gosden confirmed Lah Ti Dar for Saturday’s St Leger, Loxley is now set to join in the fun at Doncaster.
The Group 1 is now shaping up to be a mouthwatering final classic of the season after many had thought it would be a one man show with Kew Gardens running away with the trophy.
It was thought Loxley would head elsewhere with Old Persian being the stable’s sole representative.
However, from the sales ring in Keeneland Appleby has confirmed the Great Voltigeur Stakes winner will be joined by the progressive Loxley.
The trainer told Godolphin’s website: “We have decided to run two in the Leger — Old Persian will be ridden by William Buick, while James Doyle will be on Loxley.”
With Derby hero Masar out for the season, Appleby will be hoping his pair can add further success to what has already been a fine season.

With Lah Ti Dar another surprise confirmation, the race is shaping into a hot Group 1.
Kew Gardens and John Gosden’s filly are vying for favouritism at around the 2-1 mark.
Race sponsors William Hill have Old Persian priced at 6-1, with stablemate Loxley at 11-1.
Dee Ex Bee splits the pair at 10-1.
