MIDDLEWEIGHT king Gennady Golovkin has responded to Canelo’s ‘no balls’ jibe by offering to show his crown jewels.
Golovkin puts his WBA and IBF world titles on the line in his long-awaited rematch with bitter rival Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez at the T-Mobile Arena on Saturday.
The pair shared a controversial split draw in their initial contest 12 months ago although both fighters believed they won the fight.
However Golovkin’s trainer, Abel Sanchez, suggested that Canelo’s decision to spend sections of the fight boxing off the back foot was little more than ‘running’ and has instructed the Mexican star to leave his spikes at home this time around.
Canelo reacted angrily to the comments and said Golovkin does not have the balls to make such remarks himself and instead leaves it to his coach to do the talking.
But one reporter got more than he bargained for when he asked the undefeated Kazakh king what he made of Canelo’s latest jibe.
(function() var voice = document.createElement('script');voice.type = 'text/javascript'; voice.src = 'https://inconversation.net/widgets.js';var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(voice, s); )();Golovkin said: “He speaks a lot and Oscar De La Hoya speaks a lot. “What he says is not true. Do you believe him?
“If you want I can show you – there is a restroom over there!
“He is not a real guy.”
Feuding pair Canelo and Golovkin took part in the traditional pre-fight press conference here at the MGM Grand on Wednesday afternoon but they decided against posing for a face-off with tensions rising here on the Strip.
With genuine animosity between the pair, both Canelo and Golovkin have predicted knockout victories on Saturday night despite going the distance a year ago.
Of the ‘running’ accusation, Sanchez said: “The things that I’ve said in the past are the things that I thought were true.
“The only thing I said was his running style but I just want him to do what he’s saying he will do.

“He says he will try to knock Golovkin out – and if he does that then we will be treated to a great fight.
“He has to to come out to try to win instead of just trying to survive.
“In order to do that he will have to get close to Gennady in order to try and knock him out.
“Once he gets close, he will be on his back.”
