THOUSANDS of Bundesliga fans aimed to get their voice heard this week with 20 minutes of eerie silence as part of a widespread protest.
The so-called “atmosphere boycott” was announced ahead of the midweek games as disgruntled fans made their feelings clear over ticket prices and kick-off times.
German football is famous for its raucous atmospheres.
But last night Werder Bremen supporters sat in silence in the opening stages of their 3-1 win over Hertha Berlin.
Sat behind a giant poster saying ‘STOP’, fans held up images of a TV with a broken screen and a football.
The protests were against the German football federation and league.

Similar acts took place at Bundesliga matches in Munich, Hannover and Frieburg.
The purpose was to show the value of fans at stadiums, as the atmosphere was lost this week.
Banners included slogans which said “Imagine it’s football and no one can go.”
Another said: “Football is for you and me – Not for pay-TV.”
