THE Benidorm hotel where an eight-year-old British lad almost drowned claims it took them 20 minutes to find his parents after fishing him from the water.
Blair Scott’s dad Kevin rubbished the claims and said he has “several witnesses” to prove his partner was at the Magic Robin Hood resort pool at the time.
He said Blair is on a ventilator because his lungs have been weakened by pneumonia and claimed the hotel admitted to their being a “blind spot” where he fell in the water.
Kevin told Euro News: “I’m contacting all of the witnesses. There are several statements online as to what the truth is. My partner was there and lots of people witnessed it.”
Blair, who was holidaying with Kevin and stepmum Ashley Moore, was spotted lying motionless in the water on Sunday.
Former British soldier Gareth McAllister and an unnamed Spanish firemen were hailed as heroes for rescuing the young boy.
They performed CPR until an emergency helicopter arrived to fly him to hospital, where he was reportedly found to be suffering from pneumonia.
Today, the hotel issued a detailed statement claiming the boy’s parents were nowhere to be found when he was pulled from the pool.
It said: “We tried to locate parents, legal representatives or persons responsible for the child who could not be found in the pool or in the vicinity.”
The Robin Hood resort said a hotel guest named Olivia Brolly first noticed Blair and alerted another customer, David Lee.
They claimed Mr Lee told the on-duty lifeguard who ran the emergency services, but failed to make clear who pulled him out of the water.
The statement added: “Once out of the water, it was verified the child was wearing some goggles and a diving tube.
“He was attended to by lifeguard D Manuel Jimenez Rico who gave him first aid and performed manoeuvres to resuscitate him.”
Ivan Munoz, a communications representative on behalf of the resort, initially said the boy was initially recovered from the water by two women.
He confirmed that a defibrillator was available in the hotel reception but was not deployed at the time.
Blair, from Livingston, Scotland, was rushed to the intensive care unit of a hospital in Alicante but is now awake and talking, according to a social media post left by his grandmother Sharon Miller.
Sharon also took to Facebook to praise Gareth for saving her grandson, writing: “We thank you from the bottom of our hearts sir, you are our hero.
“Words are just not enough to tell you how thankful we are for what you did for Blair, me and my family – thank you so much.”
Gareth’s partner Sarah Garth took to social media to say: “Your lifeguards did nothing and left the care of a young boy in the hands of people who were doing CPR wrongly. They told my partner there was no pulse and, within seconds, my partner found one.”
The hotel posted: “We will take new safety measures and strengthen supervision in pool areas. The safety of customers is the most important.”
On other Facebook groups it was also claimed that the lifeguards did not notice the incident, and ambulance access to the pool area was difficult.
Posting on the Benidorm & Costa Blanca News & Information Forum group Tracey Dwyer pleaded: “We are urgently looking for pictures/videos taken in the MAGIC ROBIN HOOD on 09/09/18 between 12.30pm-2pm.
“Someone somewhere must have taken pictures during this time, this could prove vital information regarding an incident that has taken place in the pool and has left an eight-year-old boy fighting for his life.”

She added: “Any pictures, Snapchats or videos taken between this time would be of great us and very much appreciated.”
Natalie Ashcroft said: “Hope young boy in question has a speedy recovery, thoughts go to his family, staying at the magic Robin Hood in a few weeks I hope this is an innocent accident.”
Karen Maling Cowles from Benidorm’s British Businesses Association (BBBA) also said: “The association wants to offer our support and well wishes to him and his family for his full recovery.”
