Australian Survivor viewers have picked up on the fatal error contestants are making.

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, fans addressed how Benji Wilson, 26, is now the third male to be sent home, despite holding an immunity idol.

It was suggested online that competitors with an idol become overconfident and possess a false sense of security.

'The guys in Survivor are not very good at the game... all these idols in the mix and no one is using them!!!?' one viewer shared to Twitter on Tuesday.

Another followed suit with: 'Also how many people are going to go home with an idol?' along with 'Why does everyone go home with an idol?!' 

One fan pointed out how those holding immunity idols do not feel threatened by a possible elimination.

'I suppose the reason so many contestants have gone home with an idol in their pocket is because they feel safe and they are unaware they are the next target,' they wrote.

Tuesday night's episode saw Benji Wilson voted out in a tense tribal council, making him the third male to be sent home with an immunity idol. 

In his exit interview, Benji said: 'I knew for sure that [votes] were coming my way. I thought I was good.'

A day prior, NRL star Mat Rogers, 42, who was dubbed 'The Godfather' thanks to his high position in the tribe, was dumbfounded when his name was read out. 

'I left the game with an idol,' Mat who was gunning to get sports rival Brian Lake eliminated admitted. 

'Yeah, they got me tonight,' he continued. 'I guess I probably got a little bit overconfident maybe.'

And in an episode aired in August, US Survivor contestant Russell Hantz, who is known for his over-inflated ego was sent home, having chosen to not use his immunity idol.

After hearing his name read out multiple times during a tribal council, the 45-year-old addressed his decision to not use his idol in his exit interview.

'I made the right move, it just didn't work,' he said.
