New photo Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace claims Roxanne Pallett drama was the ‘nail in the coffin’ for Big Brother as she begs viewers to stay loyal if it’s snapped up by another channel

AISLEYNE Horgan-Wallace claims the Roxanne Pallett “punch” row was the “nail in the coffin” for Big Brother.

The reality TV star – who finished third in 2006  – believes Channel 5 axed the social experiment show off the back of an explosive series.

But it could be a decision they live to regret says Aisleyne, who is urging viewers to “stay loyal” to Big Brother if it’s snapped up by another channel.

She exclusively told The Sun Online: “Big Brother will never die.

“It is a world-renowned TV show.

“I don’t want to believe that it has been axed.

“If it has for sure then the nail in the coffin was probably the Roxanne Pallett situation. It was just horrific.

“Why else are you going to axe something that’s one of your highest rated shows?

“I think Big Brother handled it pretty well, but they should have told the housemates sooner that Ryan Thomas hadn’t hit her.”

Channel 5 bosses announced today that they’ve cut ties with the longstanding show after a controversial Celebrity series.

Actor Ryan Thomas was crowned winner on Monday night after being falsely accused of physically assaulting ex-Emmerdale actress Roxanne in the house.

After watching the footage back, the 35-year-old admitted she had got it “massively wrong”.

Despite fans fearing the end for the show, The Sun Online has exclusively revealed Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother will return on another channel.

An industry insider said: “There is no way another channel won’t snap it up and bring it back, probably as early as next year.

“Channel Five getting rid of it is a massive gamble. It’s still their most popular show, so it may be a decision they live to regret.”

It’s after a decision was made on Thursday by Hertsmere Council to let the famous house stand for another three years.

The mansion in Borehamwood faced being knocked down if the council didn’t approve the plans.

But now there’s fresh hope for the innovative series, which first launched 18 years ago on Channel 4.

Aisleyne added: “Big Brother is the originator of all reality TV shows.

“We planted the seed and others followed, so it would be a terrible shame if the loyal fans that have been with Big Brother over the past 18 years – and the newcomers – didn’t stick with Big Brother.

“If another channel does pick it up we should remain loyal and watch.

“I hope the future of Big Brother means it continues, especially Celebrity Big Brother because that’s my favourite.

“I’m really pleased this series will be back to basics. That means no reality stars, just normal people.

“It’s back to the old-school style and not just filling it with people trying to be famous.”

A statement from Channel 5 announcing the end of Big Brother said earlier today: “The forthcoming series of Big Brother will be the last – of either celebrity or civilian versions – on Channel 5.

“We’d like to thank Endemol and all of the production team who have worked tirelessly to make the show a success.

“We’d also like to thank our brilliant presenters – Emma on Big Brother and Rylan from Bit on the Side – for their consummate professionalism, Marcus, the voice of Big Brother and all of the housemates who have created so many memorable moments.

“Most importantly, we’d like to thank fans of the show for their support over the last seven years.

“We look forward to giving the final series a brilliant send-off.”

  • The final series of Big Brother on Channel 5 kicks off tonight at 9pm.
