Bans can’t be left to whims of net chiefs
ARROGANT social media bosses have made billions from a lawless culture which has left many children in despair.
They must be forced to keep their weak-willed promises of reform.

Too often they have vowed to remove sick images from their cash-cow platforms, only to shamelessly drag their feet afterwards.
So new Government plans to ensure a ban on self-harm and suicide sites are to be welcomed. Health Secretary Matt Hancock pledges to use NHS specialists to judge if an image could damage a vulnerable child, rather than leave it to internet bosses.
His crack team of child psychologists and mental health experts are in a far better position to know what will keep our kids safe.
As Mr Hancock, himself a dad of three, says: “This is far too important to be left to the whims of social media companies.”
It is vital, however, that the hard-pressed British taxpayer is not left to pick up the bill.
The NHS is already chronically short of staff, so to dedicate a hand-picked team to this initiative can only add further strain to scarce resources.
The money must instead come from the bottomless pockets of the billionaire bosses who control the platforms.
Mark Zuckerberg, the 34-year-old founder of Facebook which owns Instagram, is worth an estimated £55billion.
These fat cats created the sewer.
They must now pay whatever it takes to clean it up.
End legal aid injustice

A CONVICTED terrorist is the latest thug to cash in on our barmy legal aid largesse.
Today we reveal that the most senior al-Qaeda boss ever jailed here, Rangzieb Ahmed, has been granted £800,000 of taxpayer’s money to fund his appeal.
This is despite being imprisoned for life for plotting attacks in this country.
Yet the family of Westminster terror victim PC Keith Palmer are forced to beg for legal funding over the inquest into his death at the hands of Khalid Masood.
Isn’t it time Britain’s legal system stopped pandering to criminals and supported their victims instead?
