An appeal to find the owner of a lost ferret at a rugby league game has been branded the 'most Northern thing ever' after it went viral on social media.
The peculiar pet was recovered by stewards at Castleford Tigers opening game of the Super League against Catalans Dragons on Friday.
The club's innocent tweet quickly went viral on Twitter, where it racked up more than 1,000 likes and retweets.
Despite the international flavour of the game, the incident was deemed the 'most Yorkshire thing that's ever happened'.

However, after the tweet sent Twitter users into a frenzy, the Tigers refused to provide any more details on the animal or how it came into their possession.
The club stated that a lost pet was 'not something that [they'd] focus on' and were unable to issue any more information to help unite the ferret with its owner.
The original tweet read: 'Bit of an odd post but... if someone has lost a ferret around The Jungle this evening, please get in touch with one of the stewards!'
It quickly provoked a stream of jokes from other Twitter users.
Pete N wrote: 'Me: Rugby League is a global sport; fast and exciting, full of drama and physicality.
'And, as such, in this modern era of professionalism, deserved to be freed of the tired old "whippet and flat cap" trope, the lazy northern stereotypes.

Dave Wilson posted: 'Who thinks taking a ferret to the match is a good idea? Only in Yorkshire. Just missing the greyhound now.'
Some fans suggested keeping it on as a lucky mascot after the Tigers ran out 20-4 victors over the Dragons.
The ferret is currently with a rescue service and is no longer being looked after at the club.
