"Many Photos" - Rapper goes on trial for killing Holby City actor's daughter by supplying class A party drug to her

Jurors were today sworn in for the trial of a rapper who allegedly killed Holby City actor John Michie's daughter - but were asked to stand down if they regularly watch the TV soap.

The case against Ceon Broughton who is accused of the manslaughter of his girlfriend Louella Fletcher-Michie, will begin tomorrow.

The 25-year-old daughter of former Coronation Street star Michie became the first person to die from party drug 2C-P after she took the class A substance at a music festival.

Rapper Broughton, 29, allegedly supplied the drugs to her at Bestival in 2017 and left her to die by failing to seek medical help when she reacted badly to the drug.

A court previously heard Michie and his wife Carol Fletcher, a former dancer for Hot Gossip, made a desperate 130-mile dash to Bestival after learning Louella had fallen ill on September 11 in 2017.

Louella was found dead around 1am at the site in Lulworth Castle, Dorset, after she and Broughton went into a secluded wooded area in the festival grounds to take 2C-P.

Broughton, from Enfield, London, who has recorded tracks with top rap artists Skepta and Wiley, denies manslaughter and supplying a class A drug.

Today at Winchester Crown Court, Hants, a pool of 28 potential jurors were read a list of witness names including Michie, 62, his wife Carol Fletcher-Michie and their daughter Daisy.

They were also asked by prosecutor William Mousley QC: 'We ask that any potential jurors make themselves known if they are regular watchers of Holby City on the television.'

One middle-aged woman, a regular watcher of the show, was asked to stand aside.

A panel of 12 jurors were then selected and sworn in ahead of the trial, expected to last three to four weeks, tomorrow.

Scottish Michie, who also appeared in Taggart, has now returned to BBC's Holby City following time off work after his daughter's death.
