MULTIPLE suspicious packages have been sent to foreign consulates in Melbourne – including Britain’s.

Emergency services locked down streets amid claims of “hazardous materials” at at least seven locations.

American, Italian, German, Indian, Swiss and British consulates are believed to have been targeted.

There is currently no word on motive or who is to blame.

Containment orders are in place on St Kilda Road, Collins Street and Cardigan Place.

The Korean, Pakistan and Greek offices are also believed to have been affected.

There are eight “Hazardous Material” alerts listed on the Emergency Victoria website, in the past 30 minutes.

Authorities are yet to make an official statement.
