"Many Photos" - Student Who Thought Her Home Was Haunted Finds Man Hidden In Her Closet

A university student from Greensboro, North Carolina suffered the fright of her life last week, when she discovered an intruder lurking inside her home.

The woman, identified only as Maddie, is a junior at the University of North Carolina. She told police that she started noticing strange events at her home off campus.

Ghostly hand prints appeared on her bathroom walls, and pieces of her clothing would disappear. The student was starting to think a ghost was haunting her, when she learned the real and terrifying truth last weekend.

"I just hear rattling in my closet. It sounded like a raccoon in my closet," Maddie told Fox 8. "I’m like, 'Who’s there?' And somebody answers me. He’s like 'Oh my name is Drew.'"

The Greensboro Police Department later identified the man as 30-year-old Andrew Swofford.

The frightened student described having a chilling conversation with her home invader to WFMY:

"Are you gonna do anything to me?" Maddie asked. "Are you gonna do anything? And he’s like 'No, no, no.'"

While Maddie tried to trap the intruder in her closet, she says Swofford pushed the door open, revealing that he was dressed in her clothes, socks, and shoes, while he had stuffed another bag full of her clothes.

Maddie says she had a calm conversation with Stafford while texting her boyfriend about the eerie encounter.

"He tries on my hat. He goes in the bathroom and looks in the mirror and then is like, 'You’re really pretty, can I give you a hug?'" she remembered. "But he never touched me."

Although this was the first time Maddie and Stafford came face to face, the student is convinced he was in her home multiple times before.

This wasn’t even the first time Maddie encountered intruders in her home. She revealed that she and her roommates once found strange men in their living room, despite the fact that they always locked their doors.

While the homeowner changed the locks after that break-in, Maddie says they did not alert the police.

After two frightening run-ins with strangers, Maddie is now ready to move.

"Last night I did not feel safe. I slept with my roommate in her bed," she said. "I can’t stay here. My closet, it stinks. Every time I go in [my room] there’s a bad vibe. I’m just ready to leave."

Swofford was charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering, according to local news outlets.
