HARDLINE Eurocrats would be to blame if Britain quit the EU without a deal, a top Brexiteer has blasted.
Chris Grayling launched a barnstorming attack on Brussels saying if we left without a deal they would be entirely to blame, and not us.
Just hours before it was revealed that Theresa May will dash to Brussels this week for talks with the EU over her deal, he said that Britain was doing all it could to try and reach agreement.
But he warned in an interview with The Daily Telegraph: “If they are not willing to compromise, if they’re not willing to work with us to find common ground – it will be down to them if there is no deal.”
And he added: “We want to work with the EU to reach a deal but if they are not prepared to do that – they will have to take responsibility that we are heading towards a no-deal exit.”
The EU have repeatedly insisted that they won’t budge on the Irish border – saying the deal is done and dusted.
He insisted Mrs May would be “tough” in the upcoming talks, but that there would be no chance of Article 50 being delayed at all.
“I’ve been in every Cabinet meeting and there’s been no conversation about delaying post-March 29,” he said.
“We are not delaying Article 50”.

And Mr Grayling also slapped down scaremongering reports of food shortages after we leave the EU by saying: “No, I’m not stockpiling.”
Trade would continue to flow freely after we leave no matter what happens, we insisted.
“So it’s not a case that once we leave the EU that food supplies will suddenly dry up.”
His comments were echoed today by ex-Brexit boss Dominic Raab.
In an interview with ConservativeHome this morning he said that: “It will be important for people to see that if the EU remain stubbornly intransigent, they are the ones courting the WTO exit.
“People understand that we need to leave on 29th March. Whether they voted Leave or Remain, the one thing you hear is get this thing done and dusted.”
Leaving without a deal “wouldn’t be the end of the world, but it wouldn’t be a walk in the park”, he said, which is also the view of Roberto Azevedo, the Director of the World Trade Organisation.
Mr Raab even hinted that Britain could be SAFER after Brexit – because we’ll be able to refuse entry to anyone that border officials are worried about.
“So there’s an immediate security gain to be had in terms of border security,” he insisted.

Britain is due to leave the EU on March 29 no matter what happens, but the PM has promised to go back and ask for changes to the hated Northern Irish backstop.
Mrs May is still clinging to her deal, but accepts that MPs don’t want it in its current form.
She will come up with the plan to take to Brussels later this week which involves major changes to the Northern Ireland border.
