MEGAN Barton Hanson and Wes Nelson have been accused of faking their split to drum up publicity – with friends certain that the pair will get back together.
The former Love Island couple split last month around speculation that Megan couldn’t control her jealousy around the closeness of Wes and his Dancing on Ice partner, Vanessa Bauer.
Since their split – which was announced by Megan using a word-for-word copy of Gwyneth Paltrow’s split statement with Chris Martin – Megan hasn’t been out of the spotlight.
The 24-year-old former stripper confused fans further when she was spotted smiling and laughing in the DOI audience, a day after the break-up.
A source close to Megan revealed to Heat magazine: “Megan is playing a massive game, and isn’t hiding it very well. No-one in her friendship group or family believes she and Wes are really over.
“Her plan is to make them a super couple, which is why she used Gwyneth’s split statement for maximum publicity. They’re still together behind closed doors.”

Cracks in their relationship began to show when Megan took a dig at Wes’ DOI partner, Vanessa, with Megan publicly accusing Vanessa of freezing her out.
This week, Megan blamed Wes’s obsession with fame for the break-up and told Grazia magazine she ‘won’t be dating a celeb’ again.
“I am positive that I will meet someone who loves me for me, but I never want to date a person in the public eye ever again,” Megan said.
As well as hunting for a new pad, Megan has also been enjoying boozy nights out, plus publicly fighting for ‘custody’ of their pet hamster, Jon Snow.
However, sources are convinced Megan is putting on one big show and say there is no way Megan would let him go, especially to another girl.
“She was fed up of watching Wes and Vanessa get close every night, and having to just sit and sulk in the audience. This way, she feels there’ll be more interest created around their relationship, and once the show is over, they can enjoy a planned reunion. It’s all massively staged-managed by her,” the insider revealed.
