"Many Photos" - Funeral director sacked after he’s caught having sex in room where coffins are stored at undertakers

A FUNERAL director has been sacked after he was caught having sex with a colleague in an undertakers.

Christopher Grimes, a 64-year-old granddad was discovered in the act in a room where the coffins are stored in Newport, Isle of Wight.

After bosses were made aware the guilty couple admitted they had been taking part in a sex act at the Hamilton & Marshall Funeral Directors based in Newport.

A source told the Mirror: “They were caught red-handed.

“It has to be right up there with the most inappropriate places to do that sort of thing.

“You expect a funeral home to be a professional and dignified place, but that couldn’t have been further from the truth.

“It’s the talk of the town. He’s no longer working there and they’ve tried to hush the whole thing up.”

SEX IN THE COFFIN ROOM

Mr Grimes was in a long-term relationship with another woman at the time of the incident.

Birmingham-based parent company Dignity suspended Mr Grimes in November after they were reported and accused of unprofessional conduct.

Dignity said he had not conducted any funerals during the time he was suspended.

Mr Grimes was fired two weeks ago.

The woman, who has not been identified, had been employed on a temporary basis, but she too no longer works at Hamilton & Marshall.

The company said: “Following an investigation [the pair] admitted an inappropriate sex act took place on our premises, and he was dismissed.

“The female member of staff also no longer works for us.”
