"Many Photos" - Fans of ITV’s crime drama Endeavour divided over Morse’s bushy moustache

FANS of ITV’s Endeavour are in uproar over Morse’s new bushy moustache.

Some have declared their love for the detectives new whiskers while others have branded it “all wrong” after the show released its trailer.

His latest growth was first spotted by fans who caught the cast and crew filming for the new show in Oxford.

One devoted fan posted on social media: “I’m so traumatised by Endeavour’s horrible moustache in all these filming pictures. Why has he ruined his beautiful face?”

The show follows the career of a young Inspector Morse as he solves crimes with Oxford City Police and the latest season follows the characters within the newly formed Thames Valley Police.

The moustache is not the only change for the new series as Morse is also back in uniform at his countryside posting.

John Tyler said: “I’ll need a nurse! Are you trying to kill me? Have seen the trailer for new Endeavour.

“I think you’ve excelled yourself. A moustache AND a uniform. I’ve a heart condition.”

Twitter user Kate posted: “My mum’s first comment on seeing the ads for the new series of Endeavour was ‘look at that moustache lol’”

Directors of the Oxford-based police drama have promised the moustache has a reason, but fans are still not sure about it.

Pat Waitsnidge said: “Oh don’t know about the moustache. Makes our young Morse look older than Thursday.”

Another fan joked “if you thought endeavour’s moustache was controversial just wait till you see thursday’s puffa jacket” on a photo of the cast taking a filming break.

ITV confirmed that Shaun did grow the moustache himself rather than relying on props.
