"Many Photos" - Battle of the beasts: Crocodile and shark fight each other

An incredible moment a shark and a crocodile fought over a raw chicken has been captured on camera.

Jonathan Kehler wanted to show some friends the crocodiles in the Northern Territory's Adelaide River so he took them on a tour where experts bait the animals with a chicken on the end of a rod.

As one croc circled, the tour guide lowered the chicken to entice the reptile to leap up and take it.

But at the exact moment the crocodile jumped, a small shark also leaped from the murky water, colliding with the crocodile in mid air.

The shark then raced off, leaving the crocodile to enjoy the tasty meal alone. 

'On the tour they hang a piece of chicken to bait the crocodile to jump but a shark jumped out of nowhere to try and grab some chicken,' Mr Kehler told NT News.

'It was not scared of the croc and just tried to grab a bite… the shark sort of scared the crocodile a little bit but the croc ended up getting the chicken.

'We were expecting the croc to then get the shark but that didn't happen.'
