DONALD Trump has branded the former Vice President Joe Biden “weak” as he is tipped to announce his 2020 presidential run.

The US president added he wasn’t worried about his potential campaign opponent during a phone interview with Fox News’ Jeanine Pirro last night.

Biden is one of many Democrats who is said to have his eyes set on running for president next year.

He has not officially announced his candidacy, but he has not been shy about his qualifications.

During a book tour event at the University of Montana last month he said: “I think I’m the most qualified person in the country to be president.

“The issues we face as a country today are the issues that have been in my wheelhouse that I’ve worked on my whole life.”

Biden served as a senator of Delaware become becoming former President Barack Obama’s vice president.

In his interview with Pirro, Trump described Biden as a “one-percenter”.

He said: “He ran two or three times, he never got above one per cent.

“And then, Obama came along and took him off the trash heap, and he became vice president.

“He’s weak. So, we’ll see what happens with him.”

Biden has told some top Democrats he will definitely run for the White House and has even hinted that his big announcement could come as early as Tuesday January 15, Axios reports.

He has reportedly told friends: “If I’m walking, I’m running.”

Trump also weighed in other potential Democrats planning to challenge him in the 2020 presidential race.

Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, Hawaii Representative Tulsi Gabbard and the former secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julian Castro have announced their bids.

The 45th president said: “I’m not worried. So far, I love competition. I love what I see.”

Senators Kamala Harris, Kristen Gillibrand, Cory Booker and Bernie Sanders as well as New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and former Representative Beto O’Rourke are also among those tipped to run.

Tom Steyer, a California billionaire and Trump critic, announced he would seek office earlier this year.

Trump added: “A couple of them aren’t running that I was hoping were going to run.

“I was sort of looking forward to that. But I’ll be watching. And, whoever it is, I think we’re going to do just fine.”
