New photo Mums SWAP their unwanted Christmas gifts online, including Yankee Candles, perfume and gin

WITH the New Year’s hangover just about faded, women are taking to the internet to swap the useless gifts they accumulated over the festive period.

It seems it’s been another year of last-minute presents ranging from salt and pepper shakers to gift cards.

But rather than let them go to waste, savvy mums are swapping them online.

A thread has popped up on Mumsnet with hundreds of women trading their unwanted gifts.

Some are beauty products left over from advent calendars, while others are novelty gifts possibly picked up at the last minute.

Among the weird and wonderful items being traded is the “Tim Peake Astronaut Selection Test book”, and some “bath bombs and salts.”

Seemingly not a fan of Harry Potter, this mum received: “HP potions fairy lights…cushion and ‘festival bracelets’.

“I’ve no idea why I was bought them!”

Another pleaded to swap: “I’ve got Romesh Ranganathan’s book, a Yankee Candle reed diffuser (lemon lavender) and 5 pairs of multi coloured cat socks!”

Throwing it out there, even the poster didn’t make this gift sound appealing: “I have some candle wax in an oyster shell. Don’t even ask.”

Harry Potter was a theme among mum, with this women offering: “A Harry Potter mug (handle shaped like glasses) which reads ‘I solemnly swear I have been up to no good!”

This woman pleaded for these piggies to find a new home: “I have a salt and pepper shaker set shaped like little pigs.”

This mum was unimpressed with her haul, advertising: “3 gin minis (hate gin!)”

And it was another disappointing year for this parent: “As per last year, I have a duplicate family calendar going spare.”

There was a whole range of items to choose from

Acknowledging she may have been ungrateful, this woman wrote: “I’m bloody inundated in the stuff, have lots of Estee Lauder and Clinique/ Clarins full size cleansers and serums also.

“I would also swap for some perfume or vouchers I’m easy (and ungrateful.)”

The much hyped advent calendars didn’t go down a storm in this house, with this woman saying: “I also have a few bits from the M&S beauty advent calendar – unused.”

It seemed some women were inundated with toiletries

And there was no personal touch with this gift: “I’ve a £20 White stuff giftcard.”

One woman received a haul including a kid’s game, a torch, novelty face straws and luggage tags.

Another was given a book on pranks and jokes, while another received an Ordnance Survey map Puzzle book.

We hope that they were at least able to swap for something that they liked.

Did you know you can now get wrapping paper with your face on it?

And people branded this mum ‘selfish’ for buying a huge mountain of Christmas presents.

Plus mums reveal the worst gifts they’ve ever received.

To achieve her kick-ass figure, Hayden – who plays cheerleader Claire Bennet in Heroes – follows the ‘quartering’ rule. She eats only a quarter of the food on her plate, then waits 20 minutes before deciding whether she needs to eat again.

Hayden says: “I don’t have a model’s body, but I’m not one of those crazy girls who thinks that they’re fat. I’m OK with what I have.”

Nicollette says: “I don’t like diets – I see it, I eat it! I believe in eating healthily with lots of protein, vegetables and carbs to give you energy.”

Kim says: “I am no super-thin Hollywood actress. I am built for men who like women to look like women.”
