New photo Fears for Will Hughes as Watford star is subbed off with suspected concussion against Crystal Palace

WATFORD will be keeping everything crossed that their midfielder Will Hughes is not seriously injured after he had to be replaced after just 19 minutes.

Hughes clashed with giant defender Mamadou Sakho in the early stages of Watford’s game away at Crystal Palace.

After he was treated by the Hornets’ medical staff, the 23-year-old was allowed to continue.

But he only lasted until the 19th minute before he was replaced by Ken Sema.

And some football fans were not happy that he played on after the ugly clash.

One Twitter user posted that he was “visibly concussed for a while” before pleading with Watford to “take him off the field for his own sake”.

And Vic Bait agreed that Hughes “looks concussed”.

Ben Dinnery wrote that the Hornets ace “failed to recover from a bang on the head” and that it was “possibly concussion”.

However Bournemouth fan David Lambert was less-than sympathetic as he wrote that Hughes “is made of glass”.

Hughes was preferred in the Watford line-up for the trip to Selhurst Park to Sema – but was replaced by the Swedish midfielder before the clock had even reached 3.20pm.

Sema himself didn’t last the rest of the game, as he was substituted off for Tom Cleverley on 68 minutes.

And the former Manchester United midfielder proved to be the matchwinner when he netted just six minutes after coming on.
