A woman who claimed she had been raped was caught out when police found CCTV of her shopping in Morrisons.
Abbie Will told officers she was hit over the head by a man who then sexually assaulted her.
The 20-year-old's claims sparked a week-long investigation before detectives found footage of her doing her food shop at the store in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
Abbie Will told officers she was hit over the head by a man who then sexually assaulted her - but she was caught out by CCTV footage
Will yesterday admitted wasting police time at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.
The court heard that Will told officers she was raped on December 22, 2016, between 6.30pm and 7.30pm, on a grassy area next to the Peterhead Academy in Aberdeenshire.
Officers found security camera footage of her walking in the direction of the school, but noticed she was wearing the same clothes on her return home and her outfit had not been handed in to check for her attacker's DNA.
Fiscal depute Sally Macauley said officers reported that she appeared 'normal and not dishevelled.'
Security cameras from the academy were checked but Will could not be seen on them so police scoured CCTV around the area for evidence.
Ms Macauley said Will was picked up entering Morrisons at 6.29pm and leaving at 7.02pm - meaning the man 'would not have had the opportunity' to rape her.

'Police found the allegation to be false,' Ms Macauley added.
Will admitted to wasting police time and causing their publicly-funded resources to be diverted unnecessarily at the sheriff court yesterday.
Sheriff Morag McLaughlin released the 20-year-old on bail to allow for the preparation of a social work report.
She has previously pleaded guilty to crimes including threatening to kill police officers and threatening to damage a police station and will be sentenced in connection with those offences at a later date.
Will also has an earlier conviction for making false emergency calls.
