"Many Photos" - Joanna Dennehy’s ex ‘dreads to think’ what could’ve happened to their daughters as he reveals harrowing moment she brandished knife at family home

JOANNA Dennehy’s ex said he dreads to think what could’ve happened to their daughters as he revealed the harrowing moment she brandished a knife at their family home.

John Treanor, 42, was in an on-off relationship with the serial killer for 12 years after meeting her in St Albans in 1998 while she was walking her dog.

The caterer has opened up about how Dennehy, who had left the family home, turned up drunk late one evening in 2009 and pulled a dagger from the inside of her boot.

She plunged the knife into the living room floor and yelled: “I wish I could kill someone.”

‘I SHAKE WITH FEAR’

This was the final straw for terrified John, who left taking their two girls with him and cut off all contact with Dennehy.

Four years later he received a text from Dennehy’s sister saying she’d been arrested for murder.

John says just thinking about his ex makes him “shake with fear and anger”.

“My daughters and I will never be able to completely get away from the past, but we do our best,” he told Closer Magazine.

“I’m glad I got my children away from her when I did, because I dread to think what could have happened had we stayed.”

Dennehy stabbed three men to death over a 10-day period in March 2013, before knifing two others, both of whom survived.

‘MONSTER FOUND KILLING MOREISH AND FUN’

Branded “pure evil” by criminology experts, Dennehy, of Peterborough, Cambs, said she committed the murders because it was “moreish and fun”.

Her victims’ bodies were found in ditches in Cambridgeshire.

Dennehy’s first victim, Lukasz Slaboszewski, was her housemate.

The following week 56-year-old Falklands veteran John Chapman was knifed to death by Dennehy.

Later that day she murdered her landlord and lover Kevin Lee, 48.

Psychiatrists later diagnosed her with “psychopathic, anti-social and emotional instability disorders”.

Dennehy, from Peterborough, specifically targeted men during her killing spree, and said she did not want to kill a woman, especially not a woman with children.

She was jailed for life after pleading guilty to all three murders and two further attempted murders.

John says that their youngest daughter didn’t now the full extent of her mother’s crimes, and his eldest has refused counselling.

He says she knows she knows she “won’t end up like her mother” and is “like any other 19-year-old”, with a job and a place at college.

John added that her life sentence was “not justice” for what she had done.

“It’s not enough,” he told Closer. “I didn’t know the victims, but their families have to go on without them while she’s living in relative comfort in prison.”

Dennehy is thought to have contacted solicitors over plans to marry another female inmate at Category A HMP Bronzefield.

In August 2018 it was revealed that Dennehy is believed to have tried to kill herself in jail after apparently making a grisly suicide pact with her lag girlfriend.
